Commentary-The Meaning of Christmas, A New Approach

As we near December 25th, your editor has paused to reflect on the commercialization and secular aspects of the Christmas Season.
For Merchants of course, the holiday means more business than usual, and for many December is the "make or break" month of the year.

All kinds of ploys are used by retailers to make sure that their customers buy as much as possible before year's end, and credit card debt swells to astronomical levels. It's part of capitalism, were are told.

A long time ago, this writer decided that true Christians don't celebrate the birth of Christ on only December 25, but everyday of the year! I have tried to practice this myself, in my attitudes, deeds, and interactions with others. My own feeling is that our world would be a far better place, if more people did the same.

We have added a new feature to The World Monitor.(courtesy of biblegateway.com} At the bottom of this page you will see a daily quotation from the Bible, especially selected for you. There is also an Audio Link so that you may listen to the complete reading of the passage.

We hope that you enjoy this new feature, and we wish all of you God's Blessings, now, and all year long.

Merry Christmas to you, from our staff!
